Lawrence (aka LC) is our co-founder and CEO, and is responsible for keeping the lights on, articulating the vision, and convincing great people to join the team. Lawrence is a serial entrepreneur who lives in the Mission District of San Francisco with his wife and daughter. Previously, he founded DoubleDutch, the market leader for mobile event apps, which was acquired by Cvent in 2019. When not working, you can find Lawrence riding bicycles with his family, on the basketball or tennis courts, and reading Science Fiction. Lawrence was once attacked by a monkey as a child, yet amazingly, holds no hard feelings.

Taylor is our co-founder and Head of Product, which at an early-stage startup means he spends a lot of time conversing, writing, testing, and more testing. Taylor is our rock and on a regular basis, everyone at twine leans on his varied experience and expertise which covers a wide range of disciplines from analytics to business operations and marketing. Outside of work Taylor is often playing beach volleyball, soccer, and sailing in NYC. He’s extremely disciplined and intentional about everything, including freezing his candies so he doesn’t binge eat them.

What’s a hard lesson in life you’re grateful you had the opportunity to learn?

Zola is our Global Account Manager and unequivocally voted by her team as the office sunshine. She oversees all of our client accounts and works closely with them to ensure they’re able to successfully connect their attendees and remote teams. Zola has over 6 years in the event tech industry and brings a wealth of knowledge of virtual and in-person event design, project management, and is known for being endlessly optimistic about the future of events and the impact they have on the world. When she’s not lighting up a zoom, she's usually hiking, cooking, or spending time with her friends and family. She can ride a unicycle if someone is holding her hand, so in fact, she actually cannot ride a unicycle.

What’s one experience you’d give everyone in the world?

Brandon is our Chief Technology Officer. In addition to being our resident IT support, he is responsible for developing our software portfolio, cultivating a passionate engineering team, and keeping an eye on the horizon for trailblazing technologies and methods. Brandon has honed his technical and leadership expertise over the last 18 years. Once the laptop is closed Brandon scours the streets of San Francisco for the perfect cup of coffee to bring home to his arsenal of synthesizers.In addition to loving all things technology, Brandon at one point thought he was going to be a composer and is a tad too enthusiastic about the sonata form, but really, who isn’t?

Anh is our Head of Community Engagement. This means she oversees the twine brand and how we connect with our community. Anh has an extensive background as an #eventprof, entrepreneur, and serial community builder and brings her event design lens & passion to help power conversations within the communities that twine works with. When Anh isn’t planking, twining, or diving deep into marketing analytics, she can be found hanging out with her 3 year old daughter, singing, volunteering for industry organizations, or probably tweeting (she tweets a lot!).

What sparked joy for you this week?

Josh is in charge of all things design at twine, which means he spends most of his day trying to understand the problem, and designing the way our product looks, feels, and behaves to solve it. A self-proclaimed “blue-collar” designer, Josh draws inspiration from his hobbies which include sustainable farming, woodworking, and songwriting. Josh has won many awards such as: "Best Dad EVAR!!!" and multi-award winning for; "Most prompt human when getting food for our dogs". We always count our lucky stars that Josh didn’t pursue his CCM Boy band career and decided to join our team instead.

What is a smell that takes you back to your childhood?

Vijai is our VP of Engineering and spends his days leading our amazing team of engineers, learning about new technology, testing different ways to build our product, and turning ideas into reality. Vijai has over 16 years working in the technology space and has had a love for startups and was part of both the founding team at DoubleDutch and twine. When he’s not reviewing code, debugging software, or managing our next release, Vijai can be found surrounded by plants in his garden. He recently started growing microgreens and is a certified Master Gardener, which means he can help you debug your code or revive your orchid.

What activities make you feel most alive?

Sam joined twine as part of our acquisition of Glimpse to turbocharge our marketing team. Sam majored in linguistics and has a passionate love affair with words, writing, storytelling, and Google keyword research. She brings a rich, artistic lens to her work having been an actress and screenplay writer. For her, understanding our customers, their habits, and what marketing campaigns resonate with them is like writing her very own twine screenplay - yet she struggled to write her own bio. Looking after all things marketing, Sam dreams about marketing analytics, sales funnels, and one day helping twine go viral on Tik Tok (we have 2 followers, so we’re well on our way!)

What do you wish you could tell your younger self?

Austin is our resident puzzle enthusiast and will finish the daily Wordle before you can even refresh your browser. Joining us from the Glimpse team through our acquisition, Austin works on our engineering team as a Software Engineer, writing code to build “beautiful things for beautiful people”. He loves to travel, seek out adventure, and loves any locale that allows him to spend his mornings rock climbing. He’s usually the calm, quiet, and collected one in the group but throw a good 70s female anthem at him and he’ll throw his hair back and rock out like nobody’s business.

What is something you are glad you did, but wouldn't do again?

Oliver (or Oli) joins us as a Tech Lead via our Glimpse acquisition and is a key part of the team responsible for building twine for Zoom. Our resident globetrotter, Oli was born in the UK, grew up in Australia, and works remotely from all over the US. He is well traveled and boasts a distinguished accent that brings our team endless joy when we make him read all our release notes & code out loud. An avid runner and coffee aficionado, Oli spends his spare time cooking, enjoying bagels, wine, and eggs - sometimes all in one meal. When he’s not indulging his inner foodie, he spends time learning about the nuances of American culture like Whole Foods, cheezies, and tipping.
